Club History

Doctors and motorcycles. In the eyes of many our colleagues and friends, this is an unlikely combination. But there are a lot of us about.

The idea of forming a motorcycle club for medics who ride was born in 1996 and after letters from GP Nick Broughton, explaining the premise of the club appeared in BIKE and RIDE magazines, an inaugural meeting was organised for April 1997. The original format of a Friday ride in, Saturday ride out (usually a 160-200 mile circular route, organised by a local Quack), club dinner on Saturday night, club meeting on Sunday morning then ride home (on onwards into a few days of  ‘extension’ riding) is still how the two national meetings each year are run but, from the start, smaller groups got together for local runs or to explore continental routes.
